Press Release: DiResta Speaks to Military Women Veterans at Operation Reinvent

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY Oct 26, 2016 -- Diane DiResta, CSP, author of Knockout Presentations: How to Deliver Your Message with Power, Punch and Pizzazz, and Founder and CEO of DiResta Communications, a New York City consultancy, was invited to speak to military women veterans at the Operation Reinvent event. The event was a live webcast from NYC to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Hood, Texas.

The mission of Operation Reinvent is to prepare military women for transition to civilian life. They came together for a two day event for a Professional Image Make-over and a Career Transition Workshop. Ms. DiResta spoke about Communicating with Style where she addressed the importance of knowing your own behavioral style, recognizing the styles of others, and then learning to adapt to different styles and situations. The women at both sites participated in a behavioral magic show and discovered their primary communication style-Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness.

Ms. DiResta began by saying that she was the daughter of a Lt Colonel in the Army, the sister of a Lt Colonel in the Air Force, and had lived in Ft. Bragg.  She stated “When communication breaks down, it’s often because of a difference in styles.” She went on to explain how to develop rapport in a job interview by adapting to the hiring manager’s style.

Ms. DiResta revealed, “The value of learning behavioral communication is that it takes the ego out of communication. Instead of being annoyed by behavior, you now have the strategy to influence the person.”

Among the many sponsors were Macy’s CVS, CBS Veterans Network, Tekmark and Linkedin.
